I’m pleased to tell you that in just 11 days I have already seen results! I’m selling more books and drawing more traffic to my site. I can only imagine what the results will be in a few months as I continue following your plan. It feels good to now have direction and a clearly defined purpose! I love the way your brain works!”

**So that I can give participants as much attention as possible,

I have put a maximum of 8 spaces in this upcoming MVP Academy.***

Before you decide if this is right for you, ask yourself:
  • How important is it to you to finally get a formula in place that will help you market your business consistently?
  • How valuable is it to have a system that you can repeat over and over again and get excellent results?
  • What is it worth to never have to worry about where your customers are coming from or if they even know you exist?
If you value the freedom of having a media and marketing plan for the success of your business, then reserve your space!

Why women entrepreneurs must focus on Money, Visibility and Influence.

Who do you influence?

I admire women entrepreneurs who recognize the value of being of service to their clients first and foremost.  Like many of you, I love the work I do so much that I too would almost do it for free!

However, we are entrepreneurs.  We went into business to profit.  Therefore, at the end of the day, even as heart-centered women entrepreneurs, we must make money, visibility and influence among our top priorities.

Here’s how to do so without selling your soul:

When it comes to M0NEY:

Setting big m0ney goals makes some women squeamish—probably because of the old adage that convinced too many of us that “money is the root of all evil.”  For today’s woman entrepreneur it’s time for that B.S. belief to die.

Instead, we should create our own money power statement and let that be the driving force behind creating 6 and 7-figure businesses.  How do you craft a money power statement?  Here’s a hint:  It should always boldly capture affirming money beliefs and always start with the words “I am…”

When it comes to VISIBILITY:

Do you suffer from stage fright?  Are you deathly afraid of speaking publicly?  Does the thought of being on TV as a featured expert make you cringe?  If so, it’s time to put your visibility fears in check because it is costing you tons of money.

Here’s the reality:  if you are not visible you are invisible.  That means your customers don’t know you or how to find you.

As a woman entrepreneur it is important that you get your message into the marketplace through speaking, media publicity, workshops, etc.  No more hiding out!  It’s my belief that the universe is calling us forward.

So, if you don’t have a visibility strategy, time to put on your big girl undies and get ready to play big or go home!

If you need coaching around visibility or speaking publicly, let me know.  I’ve got some great resources to connect you with, including a colleague who specializes in helping you become a 6-figure speaker.  Together, she and I will get you camera and stage ready in no time!  Hit me up at mo [at] moniquecaradine [dot] com.

When it comes to INFLUENCE:

I’ve had the pleasure of working with women entrepreneurs who are just brilliant to the bone!  Yet, because we tend to get so busy in our day-to-day operations we don’t make the time to focus on how we can impact the marketplace with our brilliance.

Being an influencer is easier than you might think.  It’s just a matter of sharing your bold opinions about what’s going on in your industry or community.  Start by writing a simple “how-to” article or creating a transformational ½ day workshop based on your expertise or just write a blog!

Why is influence important?  It sets you apart from your competition.  While they’re running around passing out cards at networking events, you are building a platform for yourself.  As that platform grows, you gain more respect, you establish a powerful brand, you attract high-paying clients and opportunities and you make more m0ney.

What’s your next level strategy for expanding your m0ney, visibility and influence in 2013?

Should I do what they say and just leave “them” alone? Thoughts on advice from 7-figure business leaders

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE READ THIS ARTICLE WITH AN OPEN MIND.  IT IS NOT WRITTEN TO OFFEND ANYONE.  I STRUGGLED WITH WHETHER IT WAS APPROPRIATE TO SHARE THIS BUT YOUR HONESTY WILL HELP ME AND OTHER HEART-CENTERED ENTREPRENEURS BE OF BETTER SERVICE TO OUR IDEAL CLIENTS AND THOSE WE HAVE A PASSION FOR WORKING WITH.

   Which do you choose?

Over the past year I’ve worked with some of the top business advisors and coaches in the       country. I’ve also masterminded with people in business from around the globe.  I’ve   done  this because as God expands my territory and prepares me for increase, I really want to be able to help other women entrepreneurs experience business, money and mindset breakthroughs at the highest levels.

From the outset, I’ve been very proud of the fact that I’ve worked with people from all backgrounds but most of my energy has focused on working with African American  women.

Now, my team of brilliant advisors and mentors have offered me invaluable insight on how to get my business and brand to the next level and I’ve benefitted greatly from their advice.  However, there’s just one piece of advice I haven’t been so quick to accept and that is:

“Stop spending your time marketing to the fledgling entrepreneur or solopreneur who can’t afford or doesn’t value investing in themselves through you…”

In other words, some of these genius business veterans have suggested that I only focus on the high-rollers in ivory towers who can write a check at the drop of a hat.  They’ve also suggested that I stop focusing so much on African American women because they (we) can be especially challenged–both financially and from a mindset point of view–when it comes to high-level “self-investment.”

This recommendation bothers me for a number of reasons.  Mainly because I can’t see myself walking away from people who look like me.  Something about that just doesn’t feel right.

It also gets under my skin because I believe that if I can attract just one African American woman who is eager to invest in herself without the “song and dance” about lack and scarcity of money, then I’ve acheived my purpose.

I’ve worked with some incredible African-American women who get it.  They know that success is a team sport and that it is important to surround yourself with people who refuse to doubt you.  In fact the women in my Bold, Fearless amp; Fabulous Mastermind are awesome examples of excellence.

Yet, the vast majorityof African American entrepreneurs (especially women) that I come across flinch at the idea of hiring a coach, joining a mastermind or reaching out for help due to fear, embarrassment or the limiting belief that they can do this on their own.  I know this mentality all too well because less than 5 years ago, that woman was me!

But you tell me–and be honest:

 - Are African American women less likely/less willing/less financially able to invest in high-level business/success coaching?

- Should I lower my rates to serve the financially challenged?

- If yes, would I really be helping them reach a higher level and standard of success by doing so?

- Should I step away from a market of women entrepreneurs–some of whom struggle daily to keep their businesses afloat–and instead focus on those who are better able to invest in their business and their success?

- Should I just leave ”them” alone as a few 7-figure mentors have suggested if I want to reach 7-figures myself?

Leave your comments below.  I’ll reveal my decisions and breakthroughs around this issue in an upcoming blog.

**COOL FREE TOOL Alert** How to assess your mid-year business success. A “reality check-list” for the serious entrepreneur.
So where does your business stand right now? Here we are past the halfway point in the year. Are you reaching the BOLD money goals you set? Are you experiencing success at every level in your business?
When I work with my VIP and mastermind clients, I always challenge them to set BOLD money goals. I’ve found that when you have benchmark goals in place in your business, you can’t help but succeed! That’s because you ALWAYS know where you are and you ALWAYS know where you’re going.

I created this checklist to help you gage where you are right now and pinpoint where you want your business to go during these last few months of the year. How many of these 12 things have you implemented or are planning to implement? What’s stopping you?

Here’s a sampling of something of the questions on the checklist:

[ ] I know what my business revenue goals are for this year.

[ ] I have reached at least 45% of that goal.

[ ] I have the help I need (like staff or a virtual assistant) to support me and free me up to be the leader and visionary in my business.

nbsp;

[ ] I am clear on who my ideal clients are.

nbsp;

[ ] I am clear on what problem I best solve for my ideal clients.

Are you hiding-out in your business? It could be costing you money.

MVP Session

Let’s take a look at your business for a moment—and be honest. Are your revenues where you want them to be? Are you attracting the kinds of clients you love or just working with anyone who happens to come along? Are you considered an expert in your industry? Are you regularly seen in the media?

If you answered no to two or more of these questions, part of your problem has to do with not having a simple marketing and visibility strategy that can guide your business to success. Because your ideal client doesn’t know you or what problem you solve for them, they don’t invest in themselves through you.

For every day this continues to happen, you lose money.

Take a look at these scenarios. Notice the huge cost these entrepreneurs could be paying for “hiding-out” and not implementing a simple plan to reach the clients they are meant to serve:

Scenario # 1: You’re a brilliant interior designer. By not having a simple marketing amp; visibility strategy in place, you miss out on opportunities to get featured on local news programs where you demonstrate easy ways to makeover a room on a budget. This exposure, which can be secured for free, could easily lead to profitable new clients = cha-ching!! Oh but wait, you’re the one with NO marketing or visibility strategy. Sorry, no “cha-ching” for you.

Scenario # 2: You own a hair salon and you’re a gifted stylist. You want to end the endless hours on your feet and instead, position yourself as a haircare expert and perhaps train other stylists who value your expertise and are willing to pay money to learn from you. Without a strategy, you’ll be stuck working 10 hour days on your feet with no end to that cycle in sight. Yuck.

Scenario # 3: You are a coach or consultant who is passionate about the work you do with your clients. Unfortunately you’re not making what you’re worth, you’re overworked and burning out fast. With no marketing strategy (aside from the occasional e-blasts you send out), you can’t proactively attract the high-paying clients who would benefit from working with you because to them, you don’t exist.

The cold hard truth is this: No visibility strategy + Raggedy Marketing = Raggedy Revenues.

Listen, hiding out is costing you money. When you raise your profile, you raise your profits. When you’re ready to stop sitting on the sidelines, I want to partner with you to help you become an MVP. In just a ½ day session we’ll work together (no matter where you are in the world) to create a Marketing, Visibility amp; Profits Strategy that will take your business to the next level.

So what’s stopping you from creating a simple marketing and visibility strategy for YOUR business? Leave your comments here.

They’re just not that into you: 7 signs the market you’re marketing to may NOT be your market.

It’s time for a reality check when it comes to your marketing tactics.

There are a few questions you need to answer—seven to be exact—that will either make you feel really good about your marketing or they’ll confirm some harsh truths you may finally need to face.

Here are my questions. Answer them honestly, then get ready for a breakthrough:

1.) Have you ever had days, weeks or months go by in your business when there is no foot traffic, no new inquiries and no revenue coming in and you can’t understand why?

2.) Does a chunk of your customer base seem to be disappearing?

3.) Have you spent hours per month at networking events, handing out cards and following up with complete strangers to no avail?

4.) Do you advertise in the media but only get mediocre results?

5.) Are you putting in hours each week trying to market your business to your customers through email or direct mail marketing only to get a very small response?

6.) Are you the BEST at what you do but still it seems as though the people you market to just aren’t as excited about your service or expertise as you are?

7.) Are you frustrated by people constantly beating you down on price and always trying to talk you into discounts, deals, bartering or the “hook-up?”

If you answered yes to most of these questions, then something BIG is about to change in your business right now. That’s because you may have just tapped into this reality:

Are you reaching the right market?

The market that you’re marketing to might be telling you they’re really NOT your market.

Look at your product or service then take a very close look at the people you’re marketing to. Have you effectively conveyed how you can make their lives easier or better? Have you effectively shown them how you can solve their problems? If so, and your audience is still not responding, THEY ARE NOT YOUR MARKET.

If you know your prices are competitive yet you have to constantly explain why you “charge so much,” THEY ARE NOT YOUR MARKET!

Sure they may NEED you but they don’t want or value you…THEY ARE NOT YOUR MARKET!

How I came to this reality in my business

A few years ago, I started using the internet to expand my market and grow my brand. Being rooted in Chicago my whole life, it was kind of scary to spread my wings. Yet, almost immediately I noticed that my message of “publicity power” was resonating with people all over the world. I was attracting clients from as far away as Australia and the UK.

They didn’t haggle with me on pricing. It wasn’t difficult to do business with them. They valued and wanted what I had and I gave it to them. Win-win situation.

This experience opened up a whole new world for me. It told me that while I may have been comfortable marketing to a certain group (because they look like me or have things in common with me), that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are truly my market.

Let me give you a perfect example:

My MVP Academy (formerly the Visibility Bootcamp) is one of the most powerful and practical business development events in Chicago. I give participants resources, tools, scripts, templates and a whole new understanding of the unlimited potential of their business during a 1-day collaborative mastermind workshop.

Super early-bird pricing was $399.  Now the event is at $499. Now, past participants have valued this event at $2,000 because it provides you with an immediate and dramatic shortcut to success.

Yet, I get feedback like this posted to my blog:

Toni said: $399? I got bills to pay!

Selenia said: Let me know when you have something cheaper…

Cheaper?!? Their statements made two things clear:

1.) They’re not my market

2.) They will be right where they are now, come this time next year because they don’t see value in investing in themselves and their businesses.

I know you may feel like rescuing these people from themselves–I’ve spent countless years doing this– but you can’t. Stop trying to be their hero. If you keep trying to save a market that doesn’t value your brilliance, you will go broke.

The only way you can help them is if they have a mindset shift. Once they have that, they’ll come and find you.

So if you know your product or service is phenomenal and you know you’re positioning yourself well but your business has yet to breakthrough, it may be time to get honest with yourself and re-examine your market.

So how do your solve this problem?

Take a real close look at your strategy. If you’re doing the right things to position yourself in the marketplace and you’re not getting great results, you need to re-assess who you’re marketing to. This is also an opportunity to tighten up YOUR game. Invest in some expert insight from a marketing strategist. Get some recommendations on what you can do differently or better.

You should also consider upgrading your product, service (and overall vision) and start targeting new potential markets with:

1.) higher incomes

2.) different zipcodes – in different communities, cities, states, countries

3.) within a certain age range exclusively

4.) within a specific gender

5.) a certain lifestyle

6.) certain aspirations

In other words, find the people who are looking for you. Don’t keep beating your head against the wall with a market that doesn’t appreciate what you have to offer.

The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over while expecting different results. That saying applies to your business. If you keep marketing to a deadbeat market your current situation will NOT change.

So today, what are you willing to do differently to get a dramatically different result? Could it be time to change your market?
